The highly anticipated clash between Lyles and Thompson is tipped to go down as one of the greatest 100m races in Olympic history, with both speedsters expectedly arriving in their best career shape to prove doubters wrong.

Both camps have been talking tough and exhibiting confidence, with Lyles already stating the Olympic title will cement his position as the fastest man in the world.
"It's me. It's always going to be me. Everybody knows that the title goes to the Olympic champion and the world champion, which I am one of. And soon to be another one of,” Lyles said as quoted by ESPN.

Now Francis, coach of Thompson, has marked out that his best is yet to come despite comfortably running a world-leading time of 9.77s.
"Everybody knows how he has done with his times and I can pretty say that I don't think anybody has yet seen him run," said coach Francis in an interview with Jamaica Gleaner.

On Thompson's chances and experience of delivering the ultimate gold medal for Jamaica, which will be the first since Usain Bolt's triple crown at Rio 2016 Olympics, the well-renowned coach said confidently.
"Every race he runs a PB, and to win or come second or third...I'm in no position to predict what anyone else will do. It appears he is as good as he was during the national championships, so we will see.
