World champion Noah Lyles has reveled why he will not compete against Letslie Tebogo, Courtney Lindsey and Co at the Monaco Diamond League.
Multiple world champion Noah Lyles has withdrawn from the Monaco Diamond League to focus on his preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Lyles was set to be among the star attractions at the meet, having initially signed up for the 200m race, but feels he will need an extra week to train for the Olympics, hence his decision to pull out.
"I'm sorry to announce that I've withdrawn from this Friday's Meeting Herculis EBS in Monaco. The meet is one of my favourites to compete in, and Monaco is one of my favourite places that my career has taken me to,” Lyles said through a statement.

American legend Michael Johnson has thrown a challenge to African sprinters Ferdinand Omanyala, Letsile Tebogo and Akani Simbine to bring their ‘A’ game at the Paris Olympics.
“My coach, my entire team and I are very pleased with what we were able to achieve at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, however, in order to put myself in the best possible position to succeed in Paris, we have decided to spend an extra week at our training base in Florida before traveling to Europe.
“I'll miss competing there on Friday, but I look forward to returning to race in Monaco next year."
In what would have been his first outdoor race in Europe, the world 100m and 200m champion was set to line up against Botswana sensation Letsile Tebogo, American compatriot Courtney Lindsey and Ivorian Cheickna Traore (19.93).
