Noah Lyles' younger brother Josephus Lyles has opened his outdoor season with an impressive time as he looks to make the cut to the Olympic team.

Noah Lyles’ younger brother Josephus Lyles has opened his outdoor season with an impressive time as he also looks to join his brother at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Josephus clocked 10.14 (+1.8) in the 100m and this is the fastest opener ever for him and the fourth fastest 100m run of his career. The 25-year-old started his season with the 60m races and his first of the season was the Robert Platt Invitational, Houston-Yeoman FH.

He managed to finish second in the semifinal, clocking 6.69 to cross the finish line but he did not compete in the final of the race. He then proceeded to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, finishing eighth in the final of the race.

Meanwhile, Josephus will be hoping to impress this season just like he did during his junior running days. He is a former World Under-20 champion, Pan American Under-20 champion, and World Under-18 Championships silver medallist among other accolades.

During the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Josephus failed to make the cut to the Olympic team and during an interview with NBC Sport, he explained that he will try his luck this year.

He noted that joining his brother at the global showpiece would be a dream come true and it would mean the world to him.

“In 2021, I didn’t make the team, but that wasn’t for me at that time. But a dream delayed is not denied. When I try out for the team in 2024, I know I’m going to be prepared. So, making that team is going to mean the world to me,” Josephus said.
