Junelle Bromfield opened up on her boyfriend Noah Lyles and his mum's supportive roles in her qualification for the Paris Olympics.

Following her courageous qualification for the Paris Games, speedster Junelle Bromfield has revealed the roles her American boyfriend Noah Lyles and his mum played in her journey to make her first 400m Jamaican Olympic team.

The experienced quarter-miler produced her best career performance at the Jamaican Olympic trials, where she didn't just clock her best times of the season but a lifetime best.

Bromfield powered to a new Personal Best (PB) of 50.74s for a second-place finish in her semifinal race to make the final, where she did just enough to finish third in 51.24s and seal her spot on the individual team list.

In a post-race interview with The Inside Lane, the 26-year-old divulged what she went through in the past two years to make her Olympic dream a reality.

"Honestly, it means a lot because it feels as if a burden has been lifted off my shoulders," said Bromfield.

"For the past couple of years, it's been very hard mentally because I've had a loss in my family, and I'm just recovering. You know running track with love again that I know I have for the sport because I've been doing it since I've been 8 years old. It brought me so far and I'm just grateful to be here."

She will then state how her boyfriend Lyles encouraged her to start therapy following the loss of her mum.

"I started therapy like two years ago because my boyfriend (Noah Lyles) is big on therapy and he felt as if I needed it too. And, honestly, it has helped a lot because I feel as if I've been suffering with survivals guilt and it was basically laying on my shoulders.

"So now I'm like, you know I got to live my life and just enjoy the moment of it because life is short."

Bromfield also opened up on how Lyle's mum has been very supportive and welcoming since she relocated from Jamaica to Florida a few years ago.

"I want to big up my boyfriend, I want to big up his mum because you know when I went to Florida I wasn't driving and she took me to training and back everyday, and it was like 40 minutes drive. So that's a support that I'm extremely grateful for."

Bromfield has been an integral part of her country's relay team winning medals that include a mixed 4x400m bronze medal at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, 2022 World Indoor Championship gold in Belgrade, and respective silver medals at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon, and Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

She will be gunning to have a memorable appearance in Paris by walking away with medals in her various events.
