Reigning World 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen is set to attack the 2000m world record when he heads to the Allianz Memorial Van Damme, a Diamond League Meeting in Brussels, Belgium on September 8.

Ouma is certain that the 2019 world 1,500m champion will display a good show and even possibly reclaim his title.
If he manages to break the record, it would be the first official outdoor world record for the 22-year-old, who clocked a world-best performance of 7:54.10 over the two miles at the Paris Diamond League last month.
On top of being the World 5000m champion, 1500m silver medallist, and the Olympic 1500m champion, the Norwegian is also the current world indoor record holder over 1500m and the Diamond League record holder over one mile and two miles.
He won his first Diamond League title in the 1500m last September and has stormed to four successive wins and three meeting records on the circuit in 2023 so far.
He opened his season with a win at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco before reigning supreme at the Meeting in Oslo. He then went ahead to reign supreme in Lausanne before his dominant win in Silesia.
