Jamaican wunderkind Oblique Seville has explained why he looked back at triple world champion Noah Lyles at the Racers Grand Prix last weekend.
Seville beat Lyles in the 100m, clocking a world leading and personal best time of 9.82 to cross the finish line. Lyles settled for a second-place finish as he clocked 9.85 as Ferdinand Omanyala completed the podium, stopping the clock at 10.01.
As the Jamaican crossed the finish line, he was seen staring at Lyles, something that excited fans. Speaking after the race, Seville noted that it was just a sign to show Americans that Jamaicans are still good at sprinting. He explained that world record holder Usain Bolt would do that to warn his rivals.

Noah Lyles has sent a stark warning to his track rivals following his first 100m loss of the season to Jamaican wunderkind Oblique Seville.

“Well, it’s good too because back then Usain Bolt used to that and it was an opportunity to show the Americans that Jamaica is still on the top in sprinting…that was the reason why,” the 23-year-old said.
He also expressed gratitude for winning the race and clock a personal best time, which he has been chasing for years.
Since he is injury-free, Seville has promised to deliver an Olympic medal for Jamaica as he gears up for the tough show in the city of love.
“I feel very grateful to win because I came here in front of my Jamaican fans and got a personal best time that I was looking out for years. Last year I didn’t come and I was a bit disappointed but getting a personal best time now means a lot to me.
“I would just come here to deliver because you have to understand that you’re going to have ups and down’s before winning and you just have to run through it. As I’m injury free, I expect good things for the trials,” he added.
