Nigeria's Favour Ofili will be one of the major headliners at the South Eastern Conference Indoor Championships, leading a strong team of LSU's athletes.

The South Eastern Conference (SEC) Indoor Championships will take place this weekend in Arkansas, as Favour Ofili will be a major headliner at the championships, hoping to lead her school to victory.

Favour Ofili is LSU's track poster girl in 2023

Ofili, a Louisiana State University (LSU) junior, is one of the top poster athletes in the NCAA this season, expected to compete in the 60m, 200m, and perhaps the 4x400m.

Performance in the indoor 2023 season

The speedster has been in exceptional form this year, running very fast and iconic times in her races. Two weeks ago, she shattered her indoor 200m Personal Best (PB) and African Record (AR) of 22.46s, with a new 22.36s to win the event at the Tiger Paw Invitational.

The time stands as a Nigerian Record (NR), world lead, NCAA lead, LSU record, Facility Record, the second fastest time in NCAA history, and the sixth fastest in world history.

Also, less than 24 hours before the race, she clocked a brilliant PB of 7.15s to finish second in the 60m final, which was a significant indication that her 200m AR was going down sooner than later.

Ofili will be looking forward to making it a famous double-title win at the championships this weekend, gunning for iconic times.

Brume guns for first college medals

Another LSU Nigerian student-athlete to compete at the championship is Godson Brume, who has been in impeccable form this year, breaking his PB on five different occasions.

Godson Brume has broken his PB five times this year

Brume blazed to a 60m PB of 6.58s to win the final at the LSU Twilight meet last weekend, which erased his previous best of 6.59s two weeks ago.

By doing this, his mark strengthened his position as the third fastest in LSU history, and he became the twelfth Nigerian sprinter to break the 6.60s time in the event.

The sophomore student will be aiming to go under the 21s mark in the 200m and target medalling in both events at the championship.

Onojuvwevwo targets impressive appearance at first college championships

Ella Onojuvwevwo is in her freshman year at LSU and will be aiming to make it memorable in her first indoor championships.

She has a brilliant PB of 52.61s, which shattered her previous best of 53.57s (both in her first-ever indoor races). The time propelled her to the eighth fastest in LSU history and strengthened her position as the fastest in the event this season.
