African Champion, Sade Olatoye and Commonwealth Champion, Chioma Onyekwere, produced remarkable performances to begin their 2023 outdoor season.
Nigeria's best female throwers, Sade Olatoye and Chioma Onyekwere, began their outdoor season with impressive performances on Friday.
Olatoye competed at the MSU Spartan Invitational, throwing a brilliant Season Best (SB) mark of 69.15m in the women's Hammer throw event.
The mark is close to her Personal Best (PB) of 69.89m set in 2021, which gives positive signs on what to expect for the rest of the year as she prepares to qualify for the World Championships in Budapest.
Back in February, the African champion in the hammer throw won the Weight throw event at the Music City Challenge, throwing a huge PB of 25.32m, which shattered her previous best of 24.46m.

Eyakpobeyan and Israel complete sprints double as more rising stars emerge at National U18/U20 trials
Justina Eyakpobeyan and Sunday Israel made it sprint double victories at the National U18 and U20 trials in Kaduna.
Her mark is a new Nigerian Record (NR) and propelled her to fifth-best in world history. Olatoye has now taken the same form outside, and arguably can say she's in the best shape of her life.
Consequently, Onyekwere competed in the Discus event at the Florida Relays, recording an SB of 55.88m.
The Commonwealth champion will work on improving this mark in her upcoming meets as she prepares for the World Championships, in which she has an automatic qualification as the reigning African champion.
