Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has finished second at the Golden Gala, a Diamond League Meeting in Florence, Italy on Friday night, June 2.
Omanyala was off to a good start getting out of the blocks in good time but world champion Fred Kerley proved too fast for him. Kerley crossed the finish line in 9.94 ahead of Omanyala who clocked 10.05. USA's Trayvon Bromell finished third in 10.09.
This is his second 100m loss of the season after he lost at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where he finished third behind Kerley and South Africa's Akani Simbine.
Omanyala has had a good start to the season, winning three of the four races in his indoor tour in France.
He then opened his outdoor tour in South Africa where he reigned supreme in both the first and second ASA Grand Prixes. After the South Africa tour, he went for the Botswana Golden Grand Pix and stamped authority with a 9.78 wind assisted win.

Africa's fastest man will have to contend with extra competition following the addition of the World silver medallist to Friday's race in Italy.
He then competed in the 150m race at the Atlanta City Games in Georgia where he finished second and set a new African record 14.89. During the Kip Keino Classic, Omanyala won the 100m in a world lead of 9.84 ahead of Americans Kenneth Bednarek (9.98) and Marvin Bracy-Williams (10.03).
