He lost to world champion Noah Lyles who won the race in a new Personal Best of 14.56 seconds and Erriyon Knighton who placed second in 14.85.

Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala has tasted his first defeat since the start of the outdoor track and field season after being edged out to third place at the Atlanta City Games on Saturday.

During his indoor tour in France where he was competing over the 60m, he also lost once at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas meeting.

Omanyala was competing over the 150m for the first time and a third-place finish for him is quite impressive. The time he set (14.98 seconds) saw him break break the African record time of 14.99 seconds set by Frankie Fredericks of Namibia in 1993.

He lost to world champion Noah Lyles who won the race in a new Personal Best of 14.56 seconds and Erriyon Knighton who placed second in 14.85.

The Commonwealth Games champion started the race on a high and but unfortunately faded in the last few meters and Lyles took that to his advantage as he sprinted to the finish line.

It has been a brilliant start of the season for him as he won two ASA Grand Prixes in South Africa before stunning the masses at the Botswana Continental Gold Tour in April 29.

Omanyala now returns to the country for the highly anticipated Kip Keino Classic Competitions scheduled for next Saturday, May 13 at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani.
