Africa's fastest man's path to Diamond League Final glory has become less daunting after one of his main rivals' decision to complete his 2023 campaign in Switzerland
Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will be looking to end his season on a high when he heads to the Diamond League Final Meeting in Eugene, USA scheduled for September 16 and 17.
Omanyala will be hoping for a win when he lines up against a strong field. He went for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary with the hope of bagging the world title but unfortunately faded to finish seventh.

Wanyonyi, 18, had to dig deep for a second-place finish behind Arop at the just-concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The Diamond League Final Meeting will be a great chance for the Commonwealth Games champion to right his wrongs and end the season with a major title to his name.
His chances of finishing in the podium bracket or even winning the race have increased since double World Champion Noah Lyles will not be competing at the event.
Lyles ended his season at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich, Switzerland. Lyles said in a post on his Twitter account: “And with that, I say goodbye to the 2023 season! World’s fastest man in 100m and 200m, two years undefeated in the 200m and three-time World champion.”
Lyles defeated Omanyala in all the races they competed in and his unavailability in Eugene comes as a reprieve for Omanyala.
They first clashed at the Atlanta City Games, competing in the 150m and Lyles handed Omanyala his first loss of the season.
They then competed at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris, France where Lyles also outsmarted Omanyala to second place.

The two were also in action at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary and Lyles defeated Omanyala in the Heats, semi-final, and the final too.
However, Omanyala is also bound to lock horns with other strong athletes who will be vying for the top prize.
