Ferdinand Omanyala's coach, Geoffrey Kimani, has expressed his excitement following his win at the Elite Indoor Track Meeting in Miramas, France.

Ferdinand Omanyala’s coach, Geoffrey Kimani is over the moon owing to the sprint sensation's dominant exploits at his first indoor race this season.

Omanyala oozed class as he cruised to the finish line in the 60m final to win the race in a national record time of 6.54 at the Elite Indoor Track Meeting in Miramas, France. He started the semi-final in commanding fashion, clocking 6.62 to cross the finish line.

His coach, Kimani, was elated as he reacted to the news on his X (Twitter) handle, expressing gratitude to God for Omanyala’s talent.

“What a great start to the season for Ferdinand Omanyala... 6.52secs = -National Record, Meet Record, PB, 3rd fastest in the world so far... All thanks and praises to him that gives us the talents and expertise,” he said.

In the race, Emmanuel Eseme from Cameroon finished second in 6.61 as Arthur Cisse, a sprinter from Ivory Coast completed the podium, clocking 6.62 to cross the finish line.

Omanyala is not resting on his laurels as he eyes another indoor race, the Indoor Meeting in Paris on February 14. This is all in preparation ahead of his return to the World Indoor Championships scheduled for March 1 to 3 in Glasgow, Scotland, and the Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Omanyala opened his season with a 400m race in the second Athletics Kenya meet held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex where he finished fifth.

He then proceeded to the third AK meet at the Nyayo National Stadium and he competed in the 200m, clocking the fourth-fastest time in the world to win the race.
