Jacob Kiplimo, the Ugandan star and reigning World Half Marathon champion will be making his track debut in the 5,000m race.
The excitement stems from the remarkable performances witnessed at the Paris Diamond League meeting, where two world records were shattered last week.
With a number of star-studded line-ups confirming their participation, it is expected that more world records will be broken in various distances in Norway.
Jacob Kiplimo, the Ugandan star and reigning World Half Marathon champion will be making his track debut in the 5,000m race.
Kiplimo chose to skip the Florence Diamond League meeting in favour of Oslo. Having won gold at the Commonwealth Games and claimed a bronze medal at the World Championships in the same distance, he will face a formidable field that includes Ethiopian athletes Yomif Kejelcha and Samuel Tefera.
At the Florence meeting, Kejelcha finished in second place with an impressive time of 12:52.12, a mere 0.03 seconds behind the world lead time set by Mohamed Katir.

Joining them in the highly anticipated 5000m race are USA's Paul Chelimo, Guatemala's Luis Grijalva, Ethiopia's Telahun Haile Bekele, and Spain's Thierry Ndikumwenayo.
In the women's 3000m event, Sarah Chelangat will be vying for glory.
However, she faces tough competition from Kenya's World Cross Country champion Beatrice Chebet, World 5000m silver medalist Margaret Chelimo, World Cross Country bronze medalist Agnes Jebet Ngetich, and former World Under-18 3000m champion Lilian Kasait.
The women's 1500m race will feature Uganda's Janat Chemusto, who will contend against Ireland's Ciara Mageean, Ethiopia's Hirut Meshesha, USA's Nikki Hiltz, and Britain's Katie Snowden.
Notably absent from the race will be world record holder Faith Kipyegon.
Meanwhile, local boy Jakob will take on the men’s 1500m after setting a world record at the two-mile distance on Friday last week
