Letsile Tebogo outclassed Noah Lyles to win the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medal in the men's 200m event in a new African Record of 19.46s.

Competing in the race of his life and on a mission to bring back at least a medal, Botswana's Letsile Tebogo stunned Noah Lyles to the Olympic 200m title in a blazing new African Record (AR) of 19.46s.

The 21-year-old's class was no match for the rest of the field as he stormed through the track and even had time to ease off before the finish line to win Botswana's first-ever gold medal in Olympic history.

In addition, he is the first man from Africa to win an Olympic 200m title, thus etching his name as the greatest African sprinter to run the event in history.

USA's duo of Kenny Bednarek and Lyles settled for the same podium placements they won at Tokyo 2021, as they crossed the finish line in 19.62s and 19.70s for respective silver and bronze medals.

For Tebogo, he can bask in the Euphoria of being the new speed king of the men's 200m event and his goal of topping the podium for his late mum came to fruition.
