Paris 2024 Olympics: What events to watch August 5, including Women’s 5000m final
The 2024 Paris Olympics' Day 10 features 17 gold medals and a key women's 5000m final for Kenyan athletes.
Kipyegon easily cruised to the final on Friday, having qualified for the Olympics with ease and can go one better by claiming a gold medal in the race which will bring together the crème dela crème.
World record holder Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia is the woman who lowered Kipyegon’s world record when she clocked 14:00.21 at the Prefontaine Classic last year while Dutchwoman Sifan Hassan is also seeking to spoil the Kenyan superstar’s party.
Kipyegon and Hassan have had a great rivalry over the years, with the Kenyan coming up trumps, and the Ethiopian-born runner would want to gain revenge in Paris.
