Team USA ran a dominant race to win the women’s 4x400m relay gold at the Paris Olympics on Saturday.

Shamier Little started the dominance when she took a giant lead in the first leg, handing over to the newly-crowned 400m hurdles Olympics champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and she did not mess up.

She handed the baton to Olympics 200m champion Gabby Thomas who maintained the huge lead begore Alexis Holmes took it away.

The Americans missed the world record of 3:15.17 by a 10th of a second as they clocked 3:15.27, an area record, while the Netherlands, anchored by world champion and Olympics silver medallist Femke Bol, won silver in 3:19.50.

Great Britain, anchored by Amber Anning, settled for a bronze medal after completing their race in 3:19.72.

It was a nightmare race for Jamaica who dropped the baton during the first leg, ending it before it even started, and the quartet of Stacy Ann Williams, Andrennet Night, Shiann Salmon and Stephenie Ann McPherson was left in tears after the race.
