H.E. President William Ruto has promised to build a proper house for Kelvin Kiptum's widow in addition to giving the family Ksh 5 million and getting her a job among other things.
H.E. President William Ruto has paid a moving tribute to fallen marathon hero Kelvin Kiptum as preparations are underway for him to be laid to rest at his farm in Naiberi in Kaptagat, Eldoret.
Speaking during the funeral proceedings, President Ruto noted that they would build a better house for Kiptum’s family and also give her Ksh 5 million to cater to the needs of the family.
He added that they will also develop the Chepkorio village by investing Ksh 50 million in building a market, good roads, and electricity. He also promised to give Asenath a job that would help her cater to her young family’s needs.

Asenath Rotich has revealed their unfulfilled April wedding plans in a tearful tribute during his funeral service.

“We have already given the family Ksh 5 million and the government will construct a better house for his family.
“We shall work with other athletes and the government to support the family of the deceased. We shall also build a market in Chepkorio that will be worth Ksh 50 million and we have also noticed that this area is a candidate for affordable housing and other things including electricity and good roads.
“To all the other people working with us in this space, we want to develop this place into a great resource for Kenya. For Asenanth, I shall have a sit down with the governor and see the best job that suits you,” Ruto said.
Meanwhile, Ruto also paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Kiptum, who is the reigning London and Chicago Marathon champion and a former Valencia Marathon champion.
“We have come here as friends, family, and leaders to condone with the family on the demise of this great Kenyan and a world beater.
“I got to know about the passing on of Kelvin from CS Ababu, I guess it was a few hours after it happened and it was a heavy moment for us.
