Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had a difficult time completing his 100m race at the Barng'etuny Mountain Run in Nandi County when he stumbled just two metres to the finish line.
Gachagua, who took part in the exhibition race, alongside other dignitaries such as Head of Public Service Felix Koskei and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, was close to cutting the tape when he slipped and fell but still managed to completed his race.

ATHLETICS Prize money for Nandi Barngetuny Memorial Mountain Run unveiled
The race organisers of the Nandi Barngetuny Memorial Mountain Run have announced more than Ksh five million up for grabs for top performers.
Riggy G, as he is popularly known, was helped on his feet by his aides before he went on to complete the race, clocking 59 seconds.
The Deputy President had walked 10km prior to the race in support of the event which is marking its third edition this year. Gachagua is known for his regular early morning walks which have formed part of his exercise regime.
"Kenya is teeming with talented, world-beating athletes to be tapped and nurtured to reap big from their talents. This morning, I am glad to join thousands of athletes and athletics enthusiasts at the Tinderet Barngetuny Mountain Run National Championship in Nandi County, the Source of Champions," the DP posted on X.
The event, staged in Tinderet Constituency, attracted thousands of runners who were seeking a share of the Ksh5 million prize money on offer.
Winners of the main 12km race, both in the men’s and women’s races will walk away with Ksh500,000 while the second-place finishers will pocket Ksh200,000.
The podium sealers will bag Ksh100,000 while the athletes who finish fourth and fifth will be awarded Ksh 80,000 and Ksh70,000 respectively.
