Former World Under-20 1500m champion Purity Chepkirui was a late replacement for Brenda Chebet in the women’s 1500m at last month’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

FOOTBALL: Ex-Harambee Stars defender Samuel Olwande bows out of football in iconic style
Samuel Olwande retires from professional football, marking the end of a remarkable career, celebrated with a poignant Instagram post.
The 20-year-old blamed her minor injury and lack of preparedness for her dismal show and promised to come back stronger.
After the World Championships, she immediately headed to the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, China where she finished 11th before pacing the women’s 1500m at the Meeting in Brussels.
“Budapest was not that bad but I had taken an off before I was called to travel to the event. I didn’t want to lose hope, so I just showed up and tried my best.
I wanted to get to the final but by bad luck, I did not manage but I’m glad I set a Personal Best time and I was happy about it.
I had an ankle and knee injury but they were not that severe. If I couldn't have the injury and had trained well, I would have performed well and even gotten to the final,” she said.
