Secondary School Students Steal show at Epe Marathon

Champions emerge at the Epe Marathon as secondary school students shines.

Winners have emerged at the Epe 10km Road Race as secondary school students steal the show.

Pulse Sports reports that this race is being organized by the Community Marathon Series to promote marathon running among local residents and improve their physical fitness.

The road race was held in Epe on Saturday, marking the fourth event in the Community Marathon Series.

The Epe 10km Road Race, with the slogan "Run to Win or Run for Fun," will draw runners from every corner of the nation to the historic city of Epe in the Lagos East Senatorial District.

Secondary school students steal the show in Epe Marathon

Secondary school student Amadi Precious won the 5km race in the women's category with 23 minutes and 43 seconds, while 15-year-old Awoiidoye Anuoluwapo emerged as the second runner-up as she crossed the line in 24 minutes and 38 seconds, and 14-year-old Rebbeca emerged as the second runner-up with 25 minutes and 42 seconds.

In the male category, Sombo Hamid emerged as the winner after he crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 32 seconds, while Odelana James was the first runner-up with 18 minutes, 55 seconds, and Balogun Hakeem emerged as the second runner-up with 19 minutes, six minutes.

David Abiye makes it three out of four wins at the community marathon series

David Abiye has continued to dominate the community marathon series, as she has won three out of the four in the 10 km women's category with her latest win Epe.

Abiye, who was the winner of the Festack Marathon and the Lekki Marathon, won the Epe Marathon with 37 minutes, five seconds, while a secondary school student, Sunday Blessing, emerged as the first runner-up with 41 minutes and 37 seconds.

Aganya Victory emerged as the second runner up with 41 minutes and 54 seconds.

In the male category, Adedeji Tosin emerged as the winner after finishing the race in 33 minutes and 11 seconds, while Wadata Barau emerged as the first runner-up with 33 minutes and 34 seconds, and Saidu Taibu emerged as the second runner-up with 37 minutes and five seconds.

The winner of the 5km race will go home with two hundred and fifty thousand naira, while the first runner-up will earn one hundred and fifty thousand, and the second runner-up will go home with one hundred thousand naira.

In the 10km, the winner will earn five hundred thousand naira, while the first runner-up will earn three hundred thousand naira and the second runner-up will go home with two hundred thousand naira.
