Former National champion Seye Ogunlewe blazed to his first sub-10s time in the UK, haunting the AFN for his omission from the Paris Olympics Nigerian team.

At the NEB Open in Newham, Ogunlewe blazed to a windy 9.96s (4.1m/s) to finish second in the men's 100m final, just behind Great Britain's Romell Glave in 9.90s, while third place went to Eliezer Adjibi in 9.96s as well.

The Nigerian's blistering time was just after clocking 10.00s (3.4m/s) in the preliminary rounds, thus proving he is in his best career shape this year.
His performance is a justifiable reason on another AFN's blunder after being left out of the Nigerian squad for the Paris Olympics despite placing among the top qualifiers for the Games.

Blessing Okagbare minced no words in blasting the AFN and Nigerian authorities amid their saga with Paris Olympian Favour Ofili.
Ogunlewe clocked a 10.11s in June, finished fourth at the Nigerian Olympic trials, and in July ran an impressive 10.03s. These performances and his consistency were enough to be included in the 4x100m relay team, however, he wasn't listed by the AFN.
Eventually, the Nigerian representatives of Favour Ashe and Kanyinsola made the 100m semifinals in Paris, but only the latter matched his Personal Best (PB) of 10.00s. The final entry Godson Brume didn't even run after it was discovered a few weeks before the Olympics that he was injured, but it was too late for him to be replaced.

The Nigerian men's 4x100m relay squad failed to make the final, and if only wishes were horses, maybe Ogunlewe could have made a significant difference.
