Sha'Carri Richardson has stamped authority at the USATF Olympic trials, winning the women's 100m in a world-leading time and qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
American sprint queen Sha’Carri Richardson is in the form of her life following her back-to-back wins at the USATF Olympic trials happening at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Richardson was off to a great start in her Olympic campaign where she won the heats of the 100m in a stunning 10.88 despite stumbling and having a poor start off the blocks. In a post-race interview after her victory, she expressed confidence in her comeback journey and noted that her training has been well and it is a sign that she is ready for the bigger test.
“Definitely looking back, I didn’t have the start that I’ve been training to have in this moment but still not panicking, staying patient and knowing that no matter what’s going on, to continue to run my race. That just tells me that I’m prepared and I just need to put it all together,” the 24-year-old said.

Fans are in awe of how Sha'Carri Richardson managed to win the 100m race at the US Olympic trials with an untied shoelace and a poor start off the blocks and she has explained what that specifically means to her.
Going back to the Hayward Field for the semifinal, the reigning world champion stopped the clock at 10.86 to automatically qualify for the final where she was going to compete against Melissa Jefferson, Tamari Davis and Aleia Hobbs among other sprint queens.
In the final, the 24-year-old proved to be unstoppable as she clocked a world leading time to officially make the cut to the Olympic team.
She clocked 10.71 to cross the finish line ahead of Jefferson and Twanisha Terry who finished second and third in respective times of 10.80 and 10.89.
Meanwhile, the American had been off to a slow start to her season but eventually picked up and she has eventually qualified for the crème de la crème of track and field this season. She started her season with the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, finishing second before finishing third at the Meeting in Suzhou in the 200m.
Richardson bounced back to winning ways at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene, USA and is so far unbeaten in the 100m.
Making the Olympic team is a huge achievement for her since she missed out on representing the US at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics following a ban from the Athletics Integrity Unit due to a positive test for marijuana.
