By embracing love, light, and light, Olympic gold medallist Sha'Carri Richardson opened up on her true winning formula.

From a challenging period of being suspended from making her maiden appearance at the Tokyo Olympics, Sha'Carri Richardson has learned to overcome that phase by mastering a winning formula that launched her to glory in the past two years.

The American sprint star has come a long way from 2019 when she set the collegiate record of 10.75s to facing an all-time career low, especially following her notable suspension from Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Likewise, she struggled to stay true to herself regarding critics, who have spent several years berating and doubting her talent. Yet, Richardson grew from all these and moved beyond her mistakes to moments of glory by winning the 2023 world title in Budapest and powering to the Olympic 100m silver medal in Paris.

Reminiscing her path to redemption and glory in an exclusive interview with essence.com, the 24-year-old revealed how she mastered her true winning formula.

“I just feel like everything in my life is brighter now. I don’t have any darkness weighing me down, even within myself. I’m just at a different point in my life, where I’m not in survival mode—I’m in a loving energy," said Richardson.

"I love taking care of my family. I love taking care of my training partners. I just love the fact that I’ve been blessed to be in a position to show that divine energy.”

Having found her self-peace and emotional stability back, the influential track star has found a way to balance all aspects of her life, one which she stated that working on her spiritual life has been a major factor in her healing process.

“Ultimately, my spirituality was the biggest thing that got me back to believing that no matter what’s going on, I’m meant to be me for a reason. And everything that’s meant for me is me,” she added.

Richardson now embodies the 'black girl magic' role so well and is an inspiration to several people around the world. Despite her fame, she has gracefully maintained the much-needed stability and aims to continue being successful on and off track.

"I do feel like what God has put onto my spirit, my mind and my heart is to fully embrace the role he has put me in. So, to fully embrace it, understanding I am an athlete, understanding I am a woman, understanding I am a daughter, a sister - but understanding that none of those things are separate in themselves and that I’m here to show people that to be their fullest self is not an issue at all."

"And to continue to be their full selves in the bad moments, when you got a lot of naysayers, and in the good moments, when you got a lot of support - always remembering self-accountability, self-worth, and self-reflection. God has put me here to continue to be me, and truly and wholly be me. That way I can be a vessel for anybody that sees me, for them to do the same as well.”
