Athletics fans eagerly await Shericka Jackson to open her season on Saturday after postponing it for a week.
Two-time World 200m champion Shericka Jackson will finally be looking to open her season and fans can’t wait to see the Jamaican step foot on the track for the first time this season.
Jackson, who is hungrier for more this season will be competing in the women’s 60m race at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet on Saturday, January 27.
Th World 100m silver medallist will be lining up against her Jamaican competitors with the hope of making an impression in her first race of the season.

Multiple Olympic and World medallist Ese Brume will kick off her season this weekend at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold.

In a post on her X (Twitter) handle, Owen M said: “Shericka Jackson will compete in the women’s 60m at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet this Saturday! She’ll face tough competition from Briana Williams, Shashalee Forbes & Tia Clayton. Janeek Brown has also entered Ackeem Blake headlines the men’s field.”
Jackson intended to open her season last Saturday at the JAAA Puma Fuller Anderson Development Meet in Angels, Spanish Town but did not show up for the event. She was set to compete in the women’s 60m at GC Foster College alongside some of the elite sprinters.
However, her withdrawal from the event was confirmed by Bruce James, president of Jackson’s MVP Track Club. The president emphasised that they want to take a cautious approach to Jackson’s season debut this year.

Jamaican sprinting sensation Shericka Jackson has opened up on what she is banking on ahead of breaking the 200m world record set by Flo-Jo in 1988.
“We want to make sure she was feeling at her best before she starts competing for 2024. We anticipated she should be competing very quickly,” James said.
Meanwhile, last season was amazing for Jackson who not only recorded the second-fastest time ever recorded in history but also clinched the second world title in 21.41 seconds. Now, she is eyeing at breaking the record set by Florence Griffith-Joyner in 1998.
