Jackson clocked 21.48 to cross the finish line in the women’s 200m race to miss out on Flo Jo’s world record by 0.14 seconds.

Jamaica’s sprint sensation Shericka Jackson is not disappointed after missing out on the late Florence Joyner’s world record at the Diamond League Meeting in Brussels on Friday night.

This is because she believes she still has another stab at the Prefontaine Classic, the final Diamond League Meeting, to be held in Eugene, USA on September 16 and 17.

Jackson clocked 21.48 to cross the finish line in the women’s 200m race to miss out on Flo Jo’s world record by 0.14 seconds since the American’s record stands at 21.34.

In a pre-race press conference, she had made her intentions clear about breaking the record and missing out on it would be a disappointment but the two-time 200m World champion has kept her head up.

“Running here today was very good. I am very happy with my race. For me personally, it is just to show up, especially in front of such an amazing crowd," she said after Friday's race.

"You just have to put in your best and that's what I did today. It felt really good tonight, I definitely feel like I'm getting there, closer to that record."

She added that it was also important for her to have some fun and she admitted that she really had so much fun competing.

She also noted that the crowd was very supportive and she loved every bit of the race since the cheering helped her.

“It's amazing to run against such a strong field and everyone did well tonight but for me personally, it's important to have fun," she added.

"And you know the crowd was just really loud and supportive and I really love that. It helps with the sprinting and I'm really enjoying the sprinting.

"Life recently has been very good for me and I had the same feeling this evening. I love it here, I run here since 2016 I think and I enjoy it every time! Even if I didn't win."
