Shericka Jackson will not be competing at the Miramar Invitational on Saturday making this the third event she’s pulling out from this year for her season opener.
Two-time World 200m champion Shericka Jackson has pulled out of the Miramar Invitational scheduled for Saturday, April 6.
This is the third race that Jackson is withdrawing from following her withdrawal from the JAAA Puma Fuller Anderson Development Meet in Angels, Spanish Town on January 20 before withdrawing from the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet on January 27.
In a post on her Facebook page, Jackson shared that she would not be competing at this weekend’s event but did not mention the reason behind her decision.

When she withdrew from her first event, Bruce James, president of Jackson’s MVP Track Club emphasised that they wanted to take a cautious approach to Jackson’s season debut this year.
“We want to make sure she was feeling at her best before she starts competing for 2024. We anticipated she should be competing very quickly,” James said.
Meanwhile, World 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson also withdrew from the event and announced the reason behind her decision.
“Hey everyone, I just want to let everybody know that I will not be competing this weekend in Miramar. I’m not going to be like most people who let you know about my decision on social media and you will hear from the horse’s mouth.

American sprint queen Sha'Carri Richardson has opened up on the reason behind her withdrawal from the Miramar Invitational.
“I will not be competing this weekend so I don’t want anybody to get their hopes up. It is going to be a great meet with great athletes but I won’t be among those athletes this weekend.
“Different year, different approach, and different energy to come. Just lock in, enjoy the meet, and stay tuned for when I’m supposed to step on the track,” added Richardson.
