Ferdinand Omanyala was in a class of his own as he showcased his prowess to dominate the men's 200m heats on day one of the third Athletics Kenya meet.
"We will work with Governor Wisley Rotich to elevate Iten as a sports destination for sports talents in Africa. We want to install this town as a real global heritage site," he said.
Namwamba also insisted that the ministry has plans to roll out a training program for coaches to equip them with requisite skills in the ever-evolving field.
He also touched on steeplechase and assured that the ministry would burn the midnight oil to ensure Kenya takes charge of the discipline once again.
The CS also warned athletes about doping, a menace that has destroyed Kenya’s reputation on the global stage.
"I’m a strong believer in Abraham Lincoln’s mantra that it is more honorable to lose than to cheat. We must work together to rid our athletics scene of this vice.
“We are not going to wait for them to break the records and then join in the celebration. Our mantra is to walk with them through the process, in their highs and low moments,” he said.
