All you need to know about SPRINT season 2 as Sha'Carri Richardson is notably missing, while Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, and Kishane Thompson feature.

Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles will lead a hos of Paris 2024 medallists such as Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, and Kishane Thompson for Season 2 of the popular NETFLIX series SPRINT, but notably missing is track star Sha'Carri Richardson.

Season 1 premiered in July 2024, and followed some of the top sprinters in the world through the 2023 season, culminating at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.

Notable names missing from the list

Surprisingly missing from the list is world 100m champion Richardson, who won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. The American speed queen has been unarguably the face of women's sprinting since winning in Budapest last year and was a major feature in season 1, where a whole episode was dedicated to her world title victory.

Also, Jamaican legends Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah are omitted despite featuring in the debut season.

Although Thompson-Herah didn't compete in Paris due to sustaining an injury a few weeks before the start of the Games, Fraser-Pryce was present and reached the 100m semifinals before withdrawing due to a hamstring injury.

Unfortunately, in the hours leading up to the race, videos surfaced on social media of the three-time Olympic gold medalist not being allowed into the warmup track area because she was not on the team bus.

Paris was set to be Fraser-Pryce’s final Olympics – she was trying to become the first Olympian to medal in the 100m at five consecutive Games. (In fact, Richardson is the only 100m Olympic finalist featured from Season 1).

Finally, British men's 100m record holder Zharnel Hughes is missing in the initial list as well. After a breakout year in 2023, he has only managed to run a season’s best of 10.00 this year and did not advance past the semifinals of the Olympics. He was part of Team GB’s bronze medal-winning team in the 4x100m relay.

What to expect

With the inclusion of new fan favourites Alfred and Tebogo - both making history in Paris by becoming St. Lucia and Botswana's first Olympic champions, it'll be nice to watch their progress and preparations on their path to glory.

Likewise, Jamaica's new speed king Kishane Thompson has been tipped as the next big name in men's sprinting, following his world-leading time of 9.77s and winning an Olympic 100m silver medal behind Lyles.

Watching Gabby Thomas should also give high adrenaline, having won three gold medals (200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m) to be crowned the most decorated and queen of athletics at the Paris Olympics.
