She unfortunately missed out on the podium bracket in Doha but this time around.

3000m Steeplechase world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech will take on a stellar cast at the Golden Gala, a World Athletics Diamond League Meeting, on Friday, June 2 in Florence, Italy.

Chepkoech will renew rivalry with some of the stars she clashed with at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar on Friday, May 5.

She unfortunately missed out on a podium bracket and finished fourth but this time around, she will be hoping to go one place better.

This is after her impressive win at the Kip Keino Classic where she clocked 9:13.51 to cross the finish line.

In a post-race interview, she said: “I have now come back officially. In Doha, I was afraid to kick and that’s why I finished fourth but I’m happy to have won this one (Kip Keino).”

She will be battling it out with Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi who won the Diamond League Meeting in Doha in a world lead time of 9:04.38. She goes into the race bullish and ready to pull off another surprise.

World 2019 silver medallist Emma Coburn of USA will also be in the race hoping to improve on her 10th-place finish in Doha. She is the 2017 world champion.

Ethiopian, Mekides Abebe, also goes into the race with the hope of improving on her eighth-place finish in Doha.

Ethiopia will not only be represented by Abebe but also by the formidable Sembo Alemayehu who is among the fastest under-20s ever in the world with her wonderful debut with 9:05.83 in Doha. She will enjoy the company of her 21-year-old compatriot Zerfe Wondemagegn.

Chepkoech will enjoy the company of compatriots Jackline Chepkoech, Fancy Cherono, and Faith Cherotich.

The Slovenian record holder Marusa Mismas-Zrimsek, the French record holder Alice Finot, the Tunisian Marwa Bouzayani, USA’s Courtney Wayment, Canadian Regan Yee, and the Ukrainian Nataliya Strebkova will also be present.

For attacking the Golden Gala record, there is everything necessary for the feat with the goal being to beat the 9:04.96 record set by Hyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi.
