Minor injury forces Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone out of World Championships in Budapest.
World champion in the women's 400m Hurdles Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has withdrawn from the upcoming World Championships in Budapest.
The American track star took to her Instagram to announce her withdrawal was due to a minor knee injury.
"I am sad to announce that I must withdraw from this year's World Championships meet in Budapest. After consulting with my doctors and coaches, I need to take care of a minor knee issue so that I can be fully healthy for next year's Paris Olympics," she wrote.
McLaughlin-Levrone was listed to compete in the 400m, the event she has focused on since the start of the outdoor season, instead of her trademark event - the 400m Hurdles.
The three-time World Champion ran five races, dropping her times on four out of five occasions, thereby making her one of the top favourites for the world title in Budapest.
At the US Championships, McLaughlin-Levrone clocked an outstanding 48.74s to win the 400m US title - the second-fastest time in American history and tenth-fastest on the all-time world list.
