Olympic and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone revealed the possibility of competing against other top hurdlers in the women's 100mH event at next Grand Slam Track.

World 400mH Record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has revealed plans to drop the long sprint hurdles and compete in the short sprint instead at the next Grand Slam Track in Miramar.

The Olympic hurdling queen who was crowned the Grand Slam Champion in the long sprint hurdles in Kingston, after expectedly dominating the women's 400mH and 400m to earn an easy $100,000, is now looking to challenge herself in the 100mH and 100m flat at the next Slam venue in Miramar, Florida.

Speaking to Citius Mag, McLaughlin-Leverone revealed her plans for the rest of the inaugural money-making league in May.

"That's what we're looking right now (competing in the short sprint hurdles) unless something changes. I'm excited that Grand Slam is giving me such opportunities to try out different events.

"100m Hurdles is something I used to love to do and I just don't get the opportunity too much anymore. Even just being able to cop it down to the sprint side of things all the way down to the 100m, I would love to see what I can do and just challenge myself in every way possible," she said.

McLaughlin-Levrone last ran the 100m on April 12, 2018, clocking a wind-aided 11.07s. She raced the 100mH on May 4, 2024, in a personal best time of 12.71s.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is unarguably the greatest female 400m hurdler in history

The women's 100mH is unarguably one of the most competitive events in the sprint division, having hurdlers with record-breaking times and exceptional performances.

If she decides to compete in the short sprint hurdles category, McLaughlin-Levrone will face top competitors in Tokyo Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Paris 2024 gold medallist Masai Russel, and two-time world champion / Grand Slam champion in Kingston Danielle Williams.
