The marathon team had already been selected earlier and it includes Titus Kipruto and Rosemary Wanjiru among others.

Double world record holder Faith Kipyegon and Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will lead team Kenya to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary starting August 19 to 27.

Team Kenya was selected after the two-day National Trials held at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday and Saturday (July 7 and 8).

Kipyegon will be competing in the 1500m with the hope of retaining her world title and raising Kenya's flag high. She will enjoy the company of youngster Nelly Chepchirchir, World Under-20 champion Brenda Chebet and Edinah Jebitok.

The men's 1500m will see 2019 World Champion Timothy Cheruiyot seek to reclaim his title. He will also enjoy the company of World Under-20 champion Reynold Cheruiyot and Abel Kipsang.

On his part, Omanyala will be Kenya's sole representative in the men's 100m and will be hoping to represent Team Kenya in the best way possible. He intends to be the first African to win a gold medal at the global showpiece.

The men's 400m race will also have Boniface Mweresa as the sole representative. Wiseman Were will also be hoping to raise the country's flag high in the 400m Hurdles after hitting the qualifying time during the National Championships. No female representatives have been selected for the one-lap race and the 400mH.

In the 800m, Kisii Express Mary Moraa will lead Peninah Mutisya and Vivian Kiprotich. Naomi Korir has also been selected to the team but she is yet to hit the qualifying time. In the men's category, Emmanuel Korir will be hoping to defend his title once he takes on the tough field. He will be joined by Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Ngeno Kipngetich. Ferguson Rotich has also been selected to the team but he is yet to hit the qualifying time.

In the men's category, Commonwealth Games champion Abraham Kibiwott, Leonard Bett, and Simon Koech (yet to hit the qualifying time) will be in action to bring back the men's steeplechase glory.

Commonwealth Games 5000m champion Beatrice Chebet headlines the women's 5000m field and she will enjoy the company of Kipyegon, Lilian Kasait, and World 10,000m bronze medallist Margaret Chelimo. The men's field has fielded Nicholas Kimeli, Jacob Krop, Daniel Simiu, and Cornelius Kemboi.
