An outstanding jump by Temitope Adeshina announced her to the NCAA and athletics world, making her one to watchout for this season.
Nigerian track and field fans are basking in the emergence of a new jump queen in Temitope Adeshina after her record-breaking performance in the NCAA.
Adeshina scaled the height of 1.96m to win the women's high jump event at the Texas Tech Corky Classic on Friday.
Her mark was so impressive that it broke not just the Texas Tech School Record (SR) but erased legendary Doreen Amata's indoor National Record (NR) of 1.93m set in 2016 and outdoor NR of 1.95m in 2008.
More stats on her impressive mark also show that it's an NCAA lead, No3 All-Time in the NCAA, second-best mark in African indoor history, and it's just 0.01m shy of the Paris Olympic automatic qualifying standard.
Adeshina's record-breaking outing is just her second time competing indoors and her first year as a college athlete in the NCAA.
