Never in doubt to qualify from their respective heats as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson stormed to impressive performances on Day 1 of the Jamaican Olympic Trials.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson produced their best performances of the season to conveniently win their 100m heats and make the semifinals at the Jamaican Olympic Trials.

The five-time world 100m champion set to retire after the Paris Games, powered to an impressive 10.98s (0.7m/s) to win her heat and keep her dream alive of making her final Jamaican Olympic team.

Tia Clayton ran a big Personal Best (PB) of 11.02s in second, while Ashanti Moore followed in 11.24s.

Fraser-Pryce's brilliant run has now put her in a great position that she's back to her best and most likely will make the team to Paris.

Likewise, defending champion Jackson clocked a sub-10s time of 9.99s (0.6m/s) in comfortable style to stay in tune with making it back-to-back titles.

She finished ahead of Jodean Williams, also with a big PB of 11.01s, while Alana Reid followed in 11.20s for third.

Other impressive performances in the heats include Shashalee Forbes's SB of 11.03s (+1.5) to win her 100m heat with new kid on the block Krystal Sloley taking second in 11.12s, while Tina Clayton was third in 11.13s.

Natasha Morrison clocked a time of 11.12s (+0.5) to win the third heat, placing ahead of Kemba Nelson who ran 11.16s, while Shockoria Wallace came third in 11.24s.

Jackson and Fraser-Pryce remain the outright favorites to challenge for the title and claim two of the three guaranteed spots heading to Paris.
