Grand Slam Track racer Fred Kerley was left in awe after the successful outing of Michael Johnson's new money-making league for athletes.

Two-time Olympic medallist Fred Kerley has heaped high praises on the successful debut of Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track League, held from April 4 - 6 in Kingston, Jamaica.

The American speedster who signed as a Racer in the men's short sprints category had a lukewarm outing in Kingston with a fourth-place finish overall having amassed 8 points.

Kerley's 100m race saw him place a distant seventh in 10.30s - won by Kenny Bednarek in 10.07s, while in the 200m, he redeemed himself with a third-place finish in 20.39s.

His position finish overall earned him the prize money of $25,000, while Bednarek was crowned the Grand Slam Champion in the men's short sprints category, having won both events and received the whooping sum of $100,000.

Commenting on the organisation and coverage of the league, Kerley took to his X page to talk about the quality of the league and how it propels the sport.

"This is exactly what we athletes need. The meet is going on well, and the outside world needs to see the show - because it's definitely good for the athletes. I'm proud to be a part of it."

American Olympic legend Johnson who is the commissioner of the glamorous league then responded under the tweet saying:

"This is the partnership we want with our racers! Thank you for trusting us Fred!"

Kerley and Bednarek were two of the multiple Olympic champions and medallists that signed up for the league, and each competitor earned at least $10,000 for the eighth-place finisher on the overall standings of each category, and the champions won $100,000 each.

Grand Slam Track is the highest-paying meet for any track competition in history and was broadcast in over 180 countries. The next city and Slam venue will be in Miramar, Florida from May 2nd - 4th.
