The Jamaican completed her season at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting final, finishing third in the 100m, a great improvement since she had just returned to competition following an injury setback.
At the end of last season, she also changed coaches and started working with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s coach Reynaldo Walcott, and things have been working out well for her in training.

Weir noted that dozens of Jamaicans will be expected to show up and shower Thompson-Herah with love as she opens her season.
“The anticipation is high this year, especially as we have the fastest woman alive competing. With the Olympic Games taking place this summer, Bermuda has a chance to see a preview of Paris. It’s an honour to have Elaine on the island,” she said.
She also hopes that Thompson-Herah, the defending Olympic champion (100m and 200m), will motivate the yougsters to tap into their talents.
“Hopefully, she can help motivate aspiring young athletes in Bermuda because she’s an absolute role model. About 15 Jamaican athletes competed last year, so, hopefully, there will be a similar amount this year,” she said.
