After making history at the 2023 Diamond League final in Eugene and earning prize money of over N35 million, Tobi Amusan may lose this based on a fresh revelation.
World Record holder Tobi Amusan may lose her Diamond League trophy and the $30,000 prize money if the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) rules in favour of the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
Amusan won her third Diamond League trophy at the 2023 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, thus becoming the first Nigerian athlete in history to achieve such a feat and equalled America's Dawn Harper-Nelson's feat of winning the Women's 100m Hurdles three consecutive times.
For being victorious, she earned $30,000 (an equivalent of N33.604 million), plus a Diamond trophy.
However, the Nigerian track icon may lose these based on the AIU's filed appeal at the CAS to upturn the Disciplinary Tribunal decision regarding Amusan's whereabouts violations.
