World indoor record holder Devynne Charlton and Olympic champion Masai Russell will officially open their 2025 season at the Texas Tech Corky Classic in Lubbock.
Hurdling queens Masai Russell and Devynne Charlton will officially kick off their 2025 season at the Texas Tech Corky Classic this weekend.
Both training partners are listed to compete in the 60mH and 60m Olympic development race at the meet against other respectable hurdlers and sprinters.
Charlton had a fantastic 2024 indoor season, during which she clocked a then-world record of 7.67s at the Millrose Games before further lowering it to 7.65s to claim gold medal at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

The Bahamian hurdling star will aim to have the same impact this year when she makes her season's debut in Texas to officially set her season rolling ahead of hopefully lowering her world record and defending her world indoor title in March.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce: Track legend tops key stat among talented pool of Jamaican female sprinters in history
A recent key stat has shown another great accomplishment topped by the legendary Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
Likewise, Russell had a brilliant breakout 2024 season by winning the Olympic 100mH gold medal in Paris, dipping to victory in 12.33s. It took a photo finish to decide the medallists as Cyrena Samba-Mayela delighted the home crowd by securing silver for France in 12.34s, and Puerto Rico's defending champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn got bronze in 12.36s.

One of her goals this year will be to have a better indoor season than last year, during which she had a series of inconsistent performances before her fourth-place finish at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
Russel has an indoor 60mH personal best of 7.75s clocked in 2023 and a 60m best of 7.36s set in January 2024, while Charlton has a 60m best of 7.26s set back in 2017.
