Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall revealed she enjoys reading hate comments as they've served as fuel for her career and Olympic success.
Long jump queen Tara Davis-Woodhall was one of the standout performers in the 2024 season, having stayed unbeaten and iced it with an Olympic gold medal in Paris.
However, like many other athletes, the American jumper has several admirers as well as haters, who flood her social media timeline with negative comments but has found a way to deal with such hate.
In an interaction with fellow Olympic champions Noah Lyles and Rai Benjamin on Beyond The Records podcast, Davis-Woodhall revealed how she deals with haters and negativity, which she said she reads comments but uses them as fuel for motivation.
"Of course...It fuels me. It used to hurt me, it used to hurt so bad". "When did it start fueling you?" asked Lyles, "When someone told me that I was not a threat on international stage...And then there was some things that was like she should just stick to social media because that's her future."
Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband Hunter sure know how to use this fuel perfectly as they rose to the pinnacle of their respective events and now have massive followership on their social media platforms.
They were nicknamed the 'Golden Couple' of the Olympics and Paralympics after the lovebirds smashed the media space with their exceptional affection for each other and their performances in Paris.
The charismatic couple won gold medals in their various events, first Tara soaring to the women's long jump title during the Olympics, and her husband, a US double amputee sprinter propelled his prosthetic blades to Paralympic gold in the T62 400m.
It was the first Olympic and Paralympic titles in the Woodhall's careers - after Hunter won a bronze medal in the one-lap event at the Tokyo Games three years ago.
