Uganda's World Athletics team is gaining momentum as 20 elite athletes have confirmed their participation in the 2023 World Athletics Championships scheduled for August in Budapest.

The team includes renowned athletes such as 10000m world champion Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo, a double Commonwealth Games champion who will focus on the 5,000m distance.

Cheptegei, who returned to the track at the Florence Diamond League meeting after last year's World Athletics Championships, will compete in the 5,000m and 10,000m races.

He faces a race against time to regain his top form, as he settled for fourth place with a time of 12:53.81 in his season opener.
