Usheoritse Itsekiri remains unbeaten in over a year since his move to Canada.

At the Bison Classic, Usheoritse Itsekiri stormed to a new Personal Best (PB) and School Record (SR) of 6.62s to win the 60m final.

The University of Regina graduate student has been in blazing form this season, matching or erasing his SRs whenever he competed.

Itsekiri kicked off his season at the Sanderson Classic, where he clocked a Season's Best (SB) and overall fastest time of 6.70s to win the 60m event. A feat that earned him the most outstanding male performance of the meet.

The following weekend at the Edmonton meet, he ran 6.74s to win his qualifying heat and then improved on the time to a new SB of 6.68s for the needed victory.

The standout student-athlete will later compete in the 50m in his next meet, running a PB of 5.75s, before his outstanding performance of smashing his SR from 6.66s to a new 6.62s - making him the third fastest Nigerian in the event this season.

He also competed in his first indoor 300m race, clocking an impressive PB of 34.70s.

Itsekiri is a man on a mission this season, as he targets hitting the World Championships automatic qualifying standard in the 100m.

He has always been in the top 5 of Nigeria's best sprinters in the past five years, competing at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, and Tokyo Olympics, winning two medals at the African Games, and being a multiple National Champion.

Noteworthy is that the school he is doing his graduate studies is in Canada, meaning he is the only Nigerian athlete training in the country. So for him to still be churning out these fast times and staying competitive, speaks volumes of his work ethic and personality.
