Reigning 400m Hurdles World champion became the 2023 US 400m Champion, after clocking the second-fastest time in American history at the US Championships.

In less than a year of focusing on the 400m, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone almost broke the American Record by clocking a blistering 48.74s to become champion at the US Championships.

The 400m Hurdles World Record (WR) holder winning time is a huge improvement from her semifinals time of 49.67s and a massive shattering of her Personal Best (PB) of 49.51s. Also, it is a Meeting Record (MR) and World Lead, dethroning Marileidy Paulino's mark of 48.98s.

Consequently, it is the second fastest by an American quarter-miler, behind Sanya Richard Ross's record of 48.70s, and the tenth fastest in history.

The talented speedster was over a second ahead of second-placed Britton Wilson in 49.79s, while Talitha Diggs dug deep for a PB, going 49.93s as the trio secured their spots on the US team to the World Championships in Budapest.
