Sha'Carri Richardson surprisingly doesn't make the team to Paris, as Gabby Thomas led a talented team of 200m runners at the US Olympic Trials.

Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Gabby Thomas powered to her second consecutive 200m title at the US Olympic Trials, leaving Sha'Carri Richardson in fourth position and misses making the team to Paris.

Thomas, running from lane 8 and brimming with confidence after clocking the world-leading time of 21.78s in the semis, was the favourite to clinch the top spot and she did deliver with another brilliant time of 21.81s to secure her third straight US team to a major championship.

Despite the pressure and running from lane 9, Brittany Brown finished as runner-up in a massive new Personal Best (PB) of 21.90s to make her first Olympic team, edging NCAA champion Mckenzie Long at the line, who booked the last spot to Paris in 21.91s.

World's fastest woman Richardson succumbed to defeat, failing to replicate her qualifying rounds fast times, finishing fourth in 22.18s.

Thomas will now lead a talented US 200m team to Paris, where they'll be gunning to upset the Jamaican dominance of Shericka Jackson for the gold medal.

For Richardson, she'll take solace in her 100m title and qualifying in the event, so she can fully focus on becoming the Olympic champion in Paris.
