Sha'Carri Richardson easily won her 200m race with the second-fastest time in the world this year to qualify for the semifinals at the US Olympic trials.

Building on her outstanding performances at the US Olympic trials, Sha'Carri Richardson returned to the 200m qualifying rounds by running the easiest sub-22s time to make the semifinals.

The newly crowned US 100m champion had a fantastic start and blazed around the curve before shutting it down about 50m to go and still clocked a Season's Best of 21.99s (0.5m/s) - the fastest overall time of all heats and the No2 on the world list this year.

More impressively, it's Richardson's second-fastest career time behind her 2023 World Championships bronze-medal winning performance of 21.92s, thus proving the better form she's currently in and propelling her as the top candidate for the title when she makes the final.

Defending champion Gabby Thomas was also brilliant in her round as she clocked a time of 22.11s (+0.1) to win heat 4. Jadyn Mays was second in 22.50s, while Anavia Battle was third in 22.57s. TeeTee Terry, bronze medallist in the 100m ran 22.71s in fourth and made the semis.

World silver medallist (2019) Brittany Brown won heat 3 in a confident 22.29s (0.2m/s) ahead of Jenna Prandini in 22.58s, as Tamara Clark was third in 22.82s.

Richardson will be gunning to improve her time in the semifinals with the final hurdle at challenging Thomas for the title or at least a top 3 finish, to secure her second spot on the US team to the Paris Olympic Games.
