Usain Bolt has responded to criticism that he never used to take his races seriously given his tendency to dance and play around before hitting the track.

Usain Bolt, the man who redefined speed and sprints with his record-breaking times, is also celebrated for his infectious personality and love for dancing.

However, amidst the admiration for his remarkable achievements on the track, there's been a persistent criticism: does Bolt take running seriously enough?

In the summer of 2009, Bolt captivated the world when he set both the 100m (9.58 seconds) and 200m (19.19 seconds) world records at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin.

These feats followed his unforgettable performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he showcased not only unparalleled speed but also undeniable charisma.

Yet, despite his undeniable talent and success, some questioned whether Bolt's jovial demeanor, often accompanied by smiles, songs, and dances, indicated a lack of seriousness towards his sport.

While many embraced his entertaining persona, others viewed it as a distraction from the rigorous discipline required in elite athletics.

However, Bolt himself sees things differently. He acknowledges that while people came to witness his speed, it was the fun and cool side of his personality that kept them coming back.

"I was never there to show up, run, and leave—that’s not who I am. I’m there to have a good time," he asserted in an interview with Esquireme

Bolt's confidence stemmed from his rigorous training regimen, which he believes is the true measure of an athlete's dedication.

"All the hard work comes in the training for six to eight months before," he explains. This dedication allowed him to approach each race with a calm demeanor, knowing he had put in the necessary preparation.

Despite the criticism, Bolt remained unfazed, maintaining his jovial disposition both on and off the track. When faced with challenges to race him, he responds with characteristic humour, knowing that few are truly willing to test their speed against his.

On the track, Bolt's dominance was unparalleled. His record-setting performances not only showcased his speed but also highlighted his unique stride, which propelled him ahead of his competitors. While some attribute his success to physical attributes like his long legs, Bolt's ability to blend athleticism with entertainment remains unmatched.

For Usain Bolt, running was more than just breaking records; it was about enjoying the journey and inspiring others along the way.

Despite the criticism, his dancing and joyful demeanor became integral parts of his legacy, reminding us all that success can be achieved with a dance in our step.
