Faith Kipyegon became the greatest all time in the women's 1500m event after obliterating Genzebe Diababa's record with a new World Record of 3:49.11.
World and Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon produced the most remarkable performance ever seen in the women's 1500m at the Florence Diamond League, speeding to a new World Record of 3:49.11.
By doing this, she obliterated Genzebe Dibaba's previous record of 3:50.07, thereby becoming the first woman in history to run a sub-3:50s time and sealing her name as the greatest of all time in the women's 1500m.
In her post-race interview with CITIUS MAG, with the reporter asking what message she has to all mothers, Kipyegon dedicated the record to all mothers, saying they should believe they can be stronger after childbirth.
"I dedicate this World Record to all mothers, knowing that everything is possible. I told them already that by going to maternity leave and coming back, you will be stronger than before."
Kipyegon's incredible comeback since becoming a mother
In 2018, Kipyegon took a break from the track due to childbirth. She made a significant comeback a year after and has been running faster.
Her fastest time before pregnancy was 3:56.41 in 2016. The Kenyan won the World Championship title in 2017 and took a break in 2018. A year after, she was back, running 3:54.22 - a new Kenyan Record.
