Botswana's Nijel Amos reveals comeback ambitions at major Japan meet
Botswana's Nijel Amos is targeting a triumphant track return post-suspension aiming to prove resilience and reclaim top status in upcoming competitions.
At just 16, Gout has already made significant strides in his athletic career merging as a force to be reckoned with.
His journey began at Ipswich Grammar School where he first made waves at the inter-house carnival.
Under the guidance of his coach Diane Sheppard who provided Gout with his first pair of spikes his talent swiftly evolved. “
"It feels good! It is definitely one of the best feelings,” Gout reflected in a past interview as Athletics Australia.
In 2022, Gout set a record, becoming the fastest Australian U16 boy in history when he dashed across the 100m finish line in 10.57 seconds.
He continued to grow and the following year he shattered another barrier by completing the 200m in 20.87 seconds at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in Brisbane.
The video from the recent school event, which surfaced online on Friday showcases Gout's incredible speed and technique.
His time of 10.2 seconds not only outshines his peers but also compares favorably with the times of seasoned athletes, including Ferdinard Omanyala's 10.8 seconds at the 2024 Paris Olympics semifinals, where Omanyala was eliminated.
“The raw prospect is unsure of how high his ceiling sits and will let his natural development take its course, but only one thing is certain: 'I can go faster. There is always pressure but I am just running,'” Gout added.
