World Record holder van Niekerk was highly impressive in his 400m victory at Oslo Diamond League.
In his first Diamond League race since Monaco 2017, Wayde van Niekerk won the men's 400m in Oslo, clocking a time of 44.38s
The South African finished ahead of the fast-finishing Muzala Samukonga in 44.49s, while Vernon Norwood ran a Season's Best (SB) of 44.51s to take third.
Van Niekerk is having an impressive comeback this year since running the men's 400m World Record of 43.03s at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Being plagued with injuries through the years, the former World and Olympic champion looks to be back in his best shape and challenge for the world title in Budapest.
With a Season's Best of 44.17s (his fastest time in almost six years) and standing at No.2 in the world and his performance in Oslo, Van Niekerk is a favourite to become the world champion.
