This is how Kenyans can access the African games, with the country taking part in both athletics and rugby.

The 13th edition of the African Games is currently ongoing in Ghana, with various sports taking place across three cities in the country.

The event commenced on 8th March and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, 23rd March. This edition features over 5000 athletes from various African countries participating in 29 different sports disciplines.

Athletics, one of the key sports, is set to begin on Monday, 18th March, marking the start of the sporting action. The event was originally slated for 2023 but was postponed to 2024 due to certain circumstances.

The African Games is organized by the African Union (AU), in collaboration with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC). It is held once every four years and has received official recognition from the International Olympic Committee.

Previously known as the All-African Games, the event was renamed the African Games after the first eleven editions.

For the 2024 edition, the sports have been categorized into three: Olympic qualifying sports (8), non-Olympic qualifying sports (15), and demonstration sports (6).

Key venues hosting the games include the Accra Sports Stadium, Borteyman Sports Complex, Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium, Achimota Cricket Oval, and the University of Ghana Stadium.

Kenya is participating in track and field as well as rugby events in this edition of the African Games.
