In an unprecedented performance in the women's 400m final at the NCAA Championships, Nickisha Pryce stormed to a jaw-dropping Collegiate and Jamaican Record, Personal Best (PB), and world-leading time of 48.89s to win the prestigious title.
By doing this, the 23-year-old became the first collegiate and Jamaican woman in history to break the 49s mark and propelled her to 13th fastest on the world's all-time list.
Her performance was so spectacular that she inspired her schoolmates to records of their own as Arkansas University had a 1-2-3-4 sweep - the first time in NCAA history.

Jamaica's Nickisha Pryce obliterated records to win the women's NCAA 400m title. The 23-year-old is now the fastest to ever run the event in her country and the collegiate circuit.
1 - High school
She is a 2019 graduate of Vere Technical HS in Hayes, Jamaica, where she set a career best of 53.35s as runner-up in the 400m at the 2019 ISSA Championships.
2 - College
Pryce graduated from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs in 2022. While there she was the 2022 NJCAA Indoor 400m champion with a 53.68s on oversized track in Pittsburg, Kansas, and a bronze medalist in the 200m (24.20s).
In addition, she claimed the 400m bronze medal clocking 55.42s at the 2022 NJCAA Outdoor Championships in Kansas. In 2021, Pryce won the NJCAA Indoor 400 title in 53.38s on an oversized track while placing second in 200m (23.80).
Collegiate best marks include: 23.33 (200), 53.41 (400)

3 - Transfer to the University of Arkansas
Pryce joined the University of Arkansas in 2023 and ended the season as the NCAA 400m bronze medalist, posting a then PB of 50.23s after a 50.31 best in the semifinal. She was also a member of the gold medal-winning 4 x 400m relay team.
4 - Jamaican Champion
The talented runner became the 2023 Jamaican 400m champion in a then career-best time of 50.21s, which was the eighth time she bettered her previous outdoor best during the season.
5 - Debut appearance at the World Championships in Budapest
In her debut appearance at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Pryce reached the 400m semifinal, clocking 50.38s in the first round and 51.24s in the semifinal.
However, she played a vital role in the Jamaican 4x400m relay team winning the silver medal in 3:20.88, of which she ran the third leg splitting 50.16s.
